Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between gel polish, hard gel and gel-x?
Gel polish is a single layer of gel colour on your natural nails.
Hard gel is an extra durable layer of gel that sits between your natural nail and the gel polish. Hard gel can also be used to create a long-lasting extension.
Gel-x is a full-cover, durable nail extension that can be soaked off.
Can I come with gel or acrylic from another salon?
Unfortunately, we do not remove work from other artists due to not knowing what products were used. This is for both your protection and ours, as some of our artists are allergic to acrylic.
How often should I get my nails done?
We recommend having them done every 2-4 weeks depending on how quickly your nails grow. Waiting longer than 4 weeks puts you at risk of broken nails and lifting. Book your appointment here.
What is a Brow Lamination?
Think of Brow Lamination as a perm for your lashes. The process realigns the directional hair growth, making it highly malleable. Lamination allows you to customize the shape and style of your brows daily without the use of brow products.
What is a Lash Lift?
Lash lifts are also a perm. Lashes are adhered to a curling rod that is placed on the eyelid. The perm product is applied to realign the lashes to the shape of the rod, resulting in an even curl.
Do Brow Laminations and Lash Lifts have aftercare?
Both services are very low maintenance. The only aftercare for is to avoid direct contact with water for 24 hrs.
What is the difference between Classic, Hybrid and Volume lashes?
Classic extensions are a 1:1 ratio - 1 extension per 1 natural lash. Depending on your natural lash density, this can result in a naturally fluffy look.
Hybrid Extensions are a mix of Classic 1:1 lashes and 3D volume fans - 3 light extensions per 1 natural lash. This service results in a fuller, fluffier look.
Volume Extensions are 3D - 3 light extensions per 1 natural lash. This service results in a full, dense lash line and wispy tips.
Do Lash Extensions damage your lashes?
When applied properly and the appropriate length and weight are used, lash extensions do little to no damage to natural lashes. All LAK artists specializing in lashes have refined the process of providing damage-free results.
How frequently can I do a Lash Lift or Brow Lamination?
We recommend waiting a minimum of 6 weeks between processes to protect the health and integrity of the hair.
Is your lash glue hypoallergenic?
Contrary to frequent marketing, hypoallergenic lash glue does not exist. However, the black pigment in lash glue can be a common trigger for allergic reactions. At LAK we use a clear glue that is low-fume and pigment free, making it safe and comfortable for many.
What happens if I need to cancel last minute?
We understand that life happens. If something comes up, please message your artist directly as soon as you know. If it is within 24 hours of the appointment, you will be charged 50% of the service cost. No-call-no-show cancellations are charged 100% of the service cost.
What happens if Iām late?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are running late. Arriving over 15 minutes late will result in the cancellation of your appointment at the artist's discretion. We understand that delays can happen, so please be aware of how long it takes to commute to the studio, taking into account both walking and parking time. Find our address here.
